Thank you to Lisa Albin for sharing this poem with us:
As I sit alone in this old house
Tonight as tears stream down my face
This terrible beast has embraced me
Very few understand what I go through
I dream of fields full of wildflowers
Memories, I hold dear to me

I think of times gone by
the laughing, joking with family and friends
to my child, I sang sweet lullabyes
not knowing what to do
my pain and suffering, I can't erase
restful nights have become too few
in arms as strong as steel
I cry out for just one nights peace
but my fate has now been sealed
each day is a struggle in vain
as I try to stand on my own two feet
my pride won't win this game
and dancing in the rain
hiking and swimming, playing volleyball
riding horseback on the plains
each and every one
For I do not know what this day will bring
as I watch the rising sun.
